Moving out!
The time has come! We are moving! July is our last month in our grid-locked, resource sucking suburban rental!
The Domestead isn’t quite ready for us. We still have a few things we need to find or buy to build out our OffGrid SolarPunk setup.
So we’re hopping on a stepping stone to get us closer. We’re moving out to the land where we’ve started building, but sharing space in Victoria (my wife)’s parents’ house. It is a short-term arrangement that will get us living and working on the land, reduce our financial obligations, and warm us up to more community living. This is a big step out of several C@pItalist systems that are draining us and keeping us from doing the important work we were created to do.
We are all very excited, and have our work cut out for us. The last few weeks have been very busy with the physical process of moving our stuff out of our rental. Lots of selling, donating, packing, and moving. We have the rest of July to wrap that up.
We are blessed to have this opportunity. The reduction in living expenses and being closer to the land should mean much more time for diving into Domesteading and OpenSource Regenerative Software tools! “The Plan” is moving forward! We’re a season behind my original overly-ambitious timing goals, but right on time in the grand scheme of things.

who writes was one of the first to welcome me into the Regenerative movement, and start filling up my network with amazing connections. If you’re into Pioneering Regenerative Communities, be sure to subscribe! We’re both pretty nerdy about building Regenerative Communities, and we’ve mused about co-authoring some stuff here on Substack. Here’s our first attempt at that!
It was a delight to meet and talk with Nicole. Her passion and enthusiasm is infectious. Be sure to check out the comments on that article too, as there has been some great discussion and further references/links.
Speaking of Nicole — she’s spearheading the Village Builders District at The Gathering. My wife and I are planning on attending as a special trip for our first anniversary. It is shaping up to be an earth-shaking gathering of change-makers from all over the Regenerative space. Come join us!
Networking Updates
I had the pleasure of meeting with Alex and Chris at ReCommon. They’re doing some awesome work with BioRegional mapping, and using their skills with mapping and software to make tools that enable Regenerative Projects. Our values and projects align quite a bit, and we’re working towards some cooperative projects in the same vein as OpenEcoBuilder.
I also had the honor of meeting with Bernard and Jaydon from the Maslow Initiative. Our projects are very well aligned, aiming to meet the basic needs of Maslow’s hierarchy in community, freeing up more time and energy for regenerative and soul-fulfilling pursuits. For Bernard, one of those pursuits is a platform that “gamifies” regeneration — basically taking what I’ve been thinking with OpenEcoBuilder to a whole new level — beyond just a planning tool and into a Regenerative Metaverse. We’ll be working together to see just how far we can take these ideas, hoping to see pockets of Paradise built all over the world.
Is there someone or some project you think I should meet or explore? I’m looking for all sorts of connections to collaborate and co-create the world we are all dreaming of. Let me know in the comments!

Thank you to all of our subscribers. I am delighted that you all want to follow along on our journey!
Thank you to our latest paid subscriber, Bernard from the Maslow Initiative, also mentioned above in the Networking Updates.
Many thanks and apologies to paid subscribers that I managed to forget to mention between posts:

I’m a big advocate for OpenSource, so we won’t paywall any of our content. But if you’d like to join our community, discuss and request content, or just support our mission, we would be so grateful for your support.
Be on the lookout for more coming soon. This move out to the land is going to be a huge shift out of C@pItalism, and into BioHarmony!
So proud of you! I know this is your dream, so I am so thrilled to see you guys taking this step. Don't know how you balance being a dad, a dev, a writer, and everything else. Thank you for being active in this space and providing your unique perspective.
Congratulations! I'm so ready to get that small farm going myself!
